Hopefully I can provide some guidance for everyone before the ride and during. I think it's a great cause and it's also fantastic to see a group of individuals leaving their comfort zone for it.

If I wasn't riding my bike everyday; my team would probably stop putting my pay cheque in my account every month, so I haven't an excuse for not being fit!

My motivation for participating in this ride for youth is very strong, as a group of very likeminded social bike riders could make a difference and assist in a financial way for the youth of Bendigo. Also as a goal in riding this distance that will be very difficult with plenty of challengers. And finally the physical exercise and fun we all should have along the 5 day ride.

Our training schedule has been increased and will increase each week until the ride commences and will include many hills especially over the weekends. I would hope by the ride I will be doing around 200KM or more per week.

Enjoy giving back to the Community that I live in. It is good to support those less fortunate than myself. I enjoy riding and keeping fit and having a challenge in front of you keeps your mind focused. It will be good to keep Matt honest and see him ride the complete distance.

At the moment I'm riding 30km 2 to 3 days and bike trainer 1hr between Monday - Friday. Saturday ride between 65 and 100km. Sunday ride 65 to 100km.. although I've only made the one Sunday so far.

I have been a keen cyclist for many years. I have been doing spin sessions in the gym for the past four months and long training rides each weekend in preparation for this challenge.

If you have faith in a cause, as the old saying goes, "Put your money where your mouth is." Support what you believe in. I believe in the work of charities like St Lukes for the youth of Bendigo and I'm happy to throw my support behind them in their efforts.
Training schedule in preparation for event:
I train and race pretty much all year round, so the only change I'll make is to lengthen the duration of my rides. Might also place 120 kg of weights in a backpack to replicate the effort needed to carry Matt Leonard up some of the hills.
